Little Moo

Ok, so we kind of slacked in the costume department. Gabe wore a cow onesie he already had and as you can see, he was jealous of the other cow in his class.

Marathon Mom

Not to steal the spotlight, but...

I RAN A MARATHON!!

I can't say it was the most glamorous 4 hours and 55 minutes of my life, but I did it 8 months after having a baby and having a C-Section and being re-diagnosed with diabetes and taking insulin everyday...so I'm pretty proud if I may say so myself. I was really inspired by all the people out there who were running for something -- a mother lost to cancer, a soldier fallen in Iraq, to raise money for diabetes, etc. Not quite as inspiring, but I ran for myself and for Gabe. All new moms need some time away from baby and I spent that time training for a marathon. It made me a better Mom which made Gabe a happier baby.

My brother Morris ran the race too (first one!). He tied my best marathon time of 4:07. Guess he'll have to run another one to beat his sister. Hahahhahahaha.

I'll post marathon photos as soon as I get them, but in the meantime, back to the reason you check this blog....

Swingin' Good Time

We had a fun visit to the park yesterday. Gabe played in the swing, dug in the dirt and rolled around in the grass. When we got home, Boudreaux was especially excited to see Gabe.

A Day in the Life

Lots of people asked me what I did with Gabe all day while I was on maternity leave. Most of our days were spent taking walks all around DC, meeting other friends on maternity leave to hang out, working on house projects, napping, jogging with the jog stroller, weekly get togethers with our 10 mom and baby friends from a class I took called PACE (Parent and Community Education), meeting Evan for lunch and quick trips to the Smithsonian, and just enjoying every moment of our time together!

I decided to do a little photo documentary of one of days together. It turned out he got sick that day so our afternoon visit with friends turned into a doctor visit. But you get an idea of a typical day. Enjoy!

A Day in the Life of Gabe 5 1/2 months old

Soundly sleeping. Tush in air.

Moments later. Good morning Mom!

This was our morning "air" time...Gabe had some killer diaper rash as a result of some food allergies. That is what ultimately landed us at the doc in the afternoon.

Gabe plays with toes as Mom gets diaper bag ready.

Here we are on our way - posing in front of our little home before we head out to run some errands in the neighborhood.

First stop is post office to mail a few packages and pick up a passport application for Gabe.

We did some window shopping at our favorite local stores.

Our next stop was Kinkos to get passport photos for Gabe (btw, we aren't going anywhere, just want to have a passport handy incase something comes up!). It took a few tries to get a shot where he wasn't drooling, looking away or sticking his tongue out.

We walked to Whole Foods almost every day to get food for dinner. Was fun to live like Europeans and eat fresh food bought daily. Now we are back to "what do you want for dinner", "I dunno know, what do you want", "I dunno know". "PBJ?". "Ok".
It's tough being pushed around in a stroller all morning!

Nap time - yah right!

He finally went to sleep and this is what I got to deal with during nap time. PS - That is a lunchtime glass of wine :-). Why not?!
Tush in the air.
Gabe is awake and ready to go...literally...he had digestive issues that led to the diaper rash that combined landed us at the doc for the afternoon. Atleast he was still in good spirits!

Gabe waits while I get us together to go to doc. Thank goodness for car seat entertainment.

Diagnosis = milk allergy.

Looks like Gabe is trying to stop the paparazzi.

Returning home from the doc.

Dad comes out to help bring in Gabe.

Sad Gabe.

Hungry Gabe.

Sleepy Gabe.

Goodnight sweet boy.
